Andy Mahr Andy Mahr was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and received his BFA in Graphic Design from Colorado State University in 1994. Andy then attended The Portfolio Center and received a degree in Advertising Art Direction and worked as an art director and creative director for the next 13 years. His career in advertising began in Dallas TX in 1996 at Pyro, a sister company of The Richards Group, where he helped to shape brands like Hummer, Converse and Dr. Martin. Andy went on to work as a creative director at TM Advertising on accounts that included American Airlines, Nationwide, Discovery Channel, Bell Helicopter and Texas Tourism. From there, Andy made the transition from art direction to photography, and has never looked back. His success as a photographer has included work for many notable brands such as Nike, Chick-fil- A, Reebok, Toyota, United States Marine Corps, Gatorade, RAM Trucks, and California Tourism to name a few. With notable achievements in both the world of advertising and photography, he has set his sights on directing. In 2013 Andy’s work was featured in TRG’s commercial “God Made a Farmer” for RAM Trucks. The spot was named by Ad Age as one of the top 10 Greatest Superbowl ads of all time. His background as an art director has taught him to absorb the world. Whether it be photography, painting, film, music, architecture, design, motion graphics, product design, street art or guerrilla marketing; he draws inspiration from any form of art that evokes an emotion. During his time as an agency creative, he learned to pay attention not only to the way things looked and sounded, but also to the theories and concepts that surround our lives, from both artistic and business standpoints. He saw the ad business from a completely different side than what most photographers see it and he has a real appreciation for what creatives and clients go through to bring their ideas to fruition.
